The level at which a team cooperates has always been a good indicator of both team effectiveness as well as understanding how teams develop. If we understand that cooperation involves two dimensions-the willingness to cooperate, and the skill to cooperate, we have a means to assess the developmental stage of a team. Combining these two dimensions of team effectiveness provides unique insight into the stages of team development. If teams can identify their levels of cooperation in terms of willingness and skill, then they can better design strategies to increase effectiveness.
